I called the owner of the Suburban I posted about yesterday, set up a time and was getting my jacket on to walk out the door when the owner called me back and told me he couldn’t find the title anywhere... sonofaptfffffbkkwif!
I just told him to call me when he found it...
Also, when I ran a VIN check on it today I discovered it was a rental fleet vehicle for it’s first 21,000 miles/year and a half of its life. I’m not worried about that, but should I be?

Good photo. As long as oil was changed when it needed to be changed... I could forget about the fleet miles

I rented a big SUV and as far as I could tell, it had its oil changed once in 30,000 miles. Your mileage may vary.

Not necessarily, I’ve bought a former fleet vehicle before. Just do as much research as you can and remain cautious, guarded, skeptical, but friendly throughout the whole process. For example, I’ve seen plenty of “one-owner” vehicles that were sacks of shit because they weren’t cared for. Also the first vehicle I bought had nine *known* owners and it lasted 4 glorious years with me before I sold it.

I kinda figure any issues that could have arisen from its rental fleet experience are long past...
My dad has an ‘04 F-150 Supercrew that he bought after Enterprise was done with it. He’s had it for 11 years and I think he might have changed the oil on it a couple of times. Lord knows he never washes it- I get tetanus just looking at it. It’s amazing just how much a man who restores classic cars for fun can neglect his poor old pickup. But, in 150k-ish miles it hasn’t given him a lick of trouble.

When I sold the metro I couldn’t find my title either. But a week before I sold it applied to DMV for a new/ duplicate title and it came in before I left so. At least Missouri is pretty quick, and cost $12

Oregon is $80 and takes 2 months. This is just unacceptable in the digital age. Florida is $25 and they print it out on the spot.

Hey now, it’s only got 138,000! But that’s what I was thinking. I once bought a salvage title ‘98 Cobra with 99k miles- the title was branded in October of 1998 with 136 miles on the odometer. Totalled before a whole tank of gas could go though it... Just typical Mustang stuff, I guess.

It had bondo in the roof, so I figured it was a rollover, but maybe some hapless pedestrian got kicked up in the air by the front bumper and came down on the roof.
